Going Global this summer… (Winners announced!)

global Going Global this summer... (Winners announced!)Hi, I’m Menno. What’s your name? I’d be delighted to meet you. In fact, I’d love to meet you this summer. I’m DJing at Global Gathering all over the world this year and I’m looking for people to party with. I like to party, do you like to party? Lets find out. One of my favourite things to do is play the music I love really loud and put my hands up. When I put my hands up, I let go of everything that might be troubling or distracting me in life. For just that moment I live in the moment, when otherwise I spend every other day of my life worrying about tomorrow. Is that how you feel too? If so, we might be more alike then you think.

Perhaps we can put up our hands together. Do a little dance, jump around and smile at people we might not even know. You’d be surprised what great things can happen when you smile at a stranger and maybe even talk to them. Don’t take it to serious, just look at the person standing next to you at a party and tell them: “I’m having a fucking amazing time, what about you?”

Godskitchen is going Global, and I’m going to be there. I’m very excited. Going Global for me doesn’t just mean long flights, stamps in my passport and checking in-and-out of another hotel, it means meeting new people, hearing new stories and feeling inspired and together. Together as one, for the music. That is what Global Gathering means to me.

This summer, I’d like to meet you at Global Gathering. Post below what Global Gathering means to you and win 2 VIP tickets to one of the festivals, including the opportunity to grab a drink with me and talk about life, music, the universe and everything. As a resident of the festival I will be spinning at all of the confirmed dates below, as well as more to be announced!

[25.07.09] Global Gathering – Long Marston Airfield (Stratford Upon Avon, UK)

From Holland, with love,

Menno de Jong

Global Gathering….ouff, so many things come to my mind when I hear those two words together, but the ome thing that takes the biggest part of it, is the fact that I can can be who I really am, no worrying about the weird looks of others,or what other could think about me, this is just about being me, and feel free, knowing that the ones around me are my family for the moment, we’re gonna be connected thanks to the music beat.
Really looking forward to your gigs Menno, and don’t forget this….’God loves you’
    :)

I’ve realized what is Global Gathering only last summer in Qiev, Ukraine. That was something I will remember for ages. I was really shocked, and my feelings can’t be totally described here. Thousands of beautiful faces full of delight and happiness, feelings of euphoria and freedom, Burn Arena where Menno and others played their wonderful sets, flying “Intuition” t-shirts near me:)!! We were so wet and tired but music was inspiring us and we were dancing again and again, screaming and enjoying this madness! And now I’m really happy as Global comes to Belarus and I will have an opportunity to feel all that again!! I wish the days pass quickly and 27.06.09 will come to make my dreams come true! Looking forward to see you in our country Menno. Hope you’ll like Belarus and its people. Good luck and see you later! =)

Global Gathering to me is lying on my back on the grass out in the open under a big blue sky, with the sun shining down on my face and a cold glass of beer in my hand, listening to the beautiful sounds of some of the best music around…

  6. Tricia says:

Global Gathering is the best music festival that the UK has to offer by far. It allows everyone for a weekend to be completely free and listen to the worlds best DJ’s spinning the beats. You get to meet some amazing like-minded people and just lose your self in the music!! No-one cares what you look like and waht you do, everyone comes together for one reason and one reason only- love of the music!!!
I have been to Global Gathering in the UK several times and couldnt imagine not going!!
To sum Global Gathering up in one word would be AMAZING!!

    Take Care Menno

    Love Tricia in UK

Hi Menno. Will be catching you this year in Istanbul (winner or not : ). I missed out last year unfortunately due to work but I am NOT making that mistake again.

For me, Global Gathering is, well, where do I start…?

Without sounding ‘too’ poetic, the second I walk through the gates and I can hear the music pumping away, I will instantly forget about everything… and I mean everything! I will instantly forget about all the stress form work. I will instantly forget about my struggles with my Turkish language course… To put it simply, the second I hear those massive massive tunes being pumped out across the hot Istanbul summer night, I will be in a drug-free state of euphoria until the sun comes up the next morning. I will seriously be on cloud 99! That is what Global Gathering means to me; a means to simply escape the norm, even for a few hours on a hot Saturday evening (of course, the sets of MdJ, Cox and Orbital will help, too! :-)

Menno – Any chance you’ll be dropping Guanxi at some point during your set? : )

    Much respect
    Andy

Hi Menno¡ It’s me, Jasur. Let the world to be tranced with *Last Light Tonight*. Many thanks to you and your outstanding partner Djs for doing nice job. I wish you to explode minds of listeners with your amazing sounds at “GlobaRing”, most energetic dance event in the world¡ Global’s waves are expanding all over the Universe. So, let it fly¡ Deep respects…

  13. Evening Menno,

Well Global Gathering for me means the first festival ive been to, for too long now Ibiza has taken centre stage and although it’ll be hard to beat i reckon yourself and all the other DJ’s i have planned to see will more than wash away the blues of not going, Also considering myself a geek im intrigued to see exactly what the boombox has to offer, the video’s make it look like nothing ill have experienced before from a sensory point of view.

It also means spending time with my girlfriend in a clubbing enviroment away from the normal crowd that usually go on road trips, experiencing stuff together that none of the rest have before.

ALL IN ALL I REALLY CANT WAIT

    Steve

  14. Stephen says:

Global Gathering and what it means to me……. It means the world! A fab environment with 50000 like minded people twisted right orf their nappers!!!! Mashed potato, and mushy pea syndrome….. The big come down……… Planes, music, fuckin good music, and artists who call themselves DJ¬s blowing the socks off us all….. You hypnotists!!!
Hope to meet you all there yourself, Armin, the guys from A+B, take care, Dave. Happiness is the only way forward. And global has that and more!

  16. Purple Kitty says:

Your sentiments reflect my life experience exactly. Until I was introduced to the rave scene in the mid 90’s I felt a strong emotional detachment from music in general and really hadn’t found a “community” I identified with. I’ve since been quite changed as a person, immersed in a naturally welcoming environment, learning to leave my inhibitions behind me at my own pace and discovering just how possible and powerful a natural euphoria can be. It is definitely true for me too that trance and its cousins are my escape from the troubling ‘real world’, especially when experienced the way they were meant to be – in a large open-air venue at a volume you can feel.

My best times were found in the 3-day WEMF weekend parties here in Ontario, Canada, although unfortunately that annual celebration has finally come to an end. Although trance is definitely my ‘life-blood’, it was at these events that I explored the vast spectrum of electronic music and each of the smaller ‘families’ of music enthusiasts who make up the entire community. Everyone has their own tastes but they can truly come together and meld as a greater whole at events of this scale. One need not try hard to sense the powerful vibe in the air, something tangible that must be felt first-hand to be understood.

I’m not sure what I’m going to do for large-scale events in the future because travel is difficult and expensive. I do truly hope that I can eventually attend a Global Gathering, or something of the like. Having reached my 30’s I’m gonna need the scene to keep me feeling young and reinforce all the wonderful memories I’ve had over the last 15 years or so. I was deeply disappointed I couldn’t make it to your last appearance in Toronto and I hope you’ll be back here again soon. But I also hope that something new will spring up in my area to fill the huge void left by the demise of WEMF. There is a literal ‘army’ of Trance fans here who will heed the call of duty should the overseas DJs show up in force.

  17. Leanne says:

Well to be totally honest Global Gathering at the moment is just a little bit of excitement and intregue churning in my belly. I’ve never been before so this will be my first year. I’ve heard stories from friends who are now die hard fans and go every year, this year I’m a Global virgin!

Coming from Scotland we have T in The Park and Rockness which are always fun but you can never be sure of the weather. This year Global will be my summer festival in the sun with my mates. I can’t wait!

My girlfriend & I both live in California, United States. We have been listening to trance music for so long now. When Menno de Jong came here, we went and saw him and he was amazing! Going to Global Gathering would be an amazing experience for both of us that we will remember for the rest of our lives. We’ve only been to shows in California. We’ve never been to any of the countries that Global Gathering is in. We love Trance music so much and not very many of the good Trance DJs come to our town. But Global Gathering has so many of our favorite DJs. Words cannot explain how amazing and life-changing this experience would be for my girlfriend and I. I’am also a beginner Trance DJ. The opportunity to meet Menno De Jong would be so amazing for me. He is one of my favorite DJs he is so talented. I could learn so much from him and I would love the chance to meet him. Thank you, hopefully we’ll see each other at Global Gathering!

  22. Andy Oldfield says:

So basically, this ‘competition’ is a load of crap. After last nights GG, there’s only 3 events left. Why didn’t you just say in the competition ‘Win tickets to GG UK, Ukraine or Russia’. Bit of a farce really.

  23. Menno says:

    Hi Andy,

You have a very valid point there, I’m very sorry about this and apologize for letting it escape my attention. To compensate I will do the following:

    - Because Poland and Turkey are no longer included, I will re-issue a similar competition when I next play there.
    - As Belarus is relatively close to the Ukraine there will be two winners for this festival (one from the Ukraine, and one from Belarus)
    - There will be one winner each for the two remaining festivals, making 4 winners in total instead of 1.

I hope this works for you and the other people that reacted. I’m very sorry about this situation.

    Warm regards,

    Menno =)

  24. olenka says:

    hey Menno,
it can seem quite silly….but i was the only person here named “olenka”,and there is “olenka” in list of winners of tickets :P so i thought that it might be me….but u know,i got no notification by email….so i still have hope that this winner is me…and at the same time im not sure….maybe u know answers for my questions….

Jumping on the table was very funny. Thanks for “FACES” and “All we need it THAT moment” :P

After all, thanks for signing the T-Shirt… Couldn’t say that in place, because it was too loud, so saying now – INCREDIBLE live set, my head was overblown with emotions! Keep it up, we listen you all over in Ukraine…
